After the strong increase in prices in France, Germany and Spain, Italy also looks forward to inflation data. Official figures will be announced June 21 but early estimates do not conceal an air of pessimism. Would naturally weigh the high oil prices, the phenomenon of mad cow disease and not least the chronic weakness of the euro. While waiting, however, nobody seems willing to hazard figures.

Another day of passion for the media in Piazza Affari. Earlier this week the industry had reached the downgrade of ABN Amro, because of declining advertising sales forecasts. Significant fall at this moment especially for L’Espresso, which is on the levels of a year and eight months ago the price of 4.6 euros (-1.84%). Too bad all the other titles in the sector: Mediaset gave the 1, 61%, the hdp 1, 45% and the Mondadori 0.89%.

The British group Granada was considered “market underperform” from Lehman Brothers and with a target price of 170 pence. The outlook for the advertising market remains bleak for the fourth quarter of 2001 and for much of 2002. A recovery in advertising revenues is desirable, but there is uncertainty about when it will occur. There are planned restructuring plans involving cost cuts, with the title does not show a great appeal in this phase of the market. Granada at the moment is 161 pence (-2.99%).
